Toxics

The Recycling Centre can NOT accept:

  • All automotive fluids and their containers, automobile batteries.
  • Propane tanks.
  • TVs, VCRs, DVD players, computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, any and all peripherals, printers, fax machines.
  • Paint, solvents, spray paints, marine paint.
  • Garden chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, flammable liquids.

Most of these items can be taken to the Campbell River Bottle Depot. (See the links page for their contact info and hours).

Dry empty paint cans are scrap metal.


 

Recyclables

 

paper

 

 Paper: All types clean and dry

cardboard

 

Cardboard: All types, referred to as OCC or old corrugated cardboard, cereal type boxes, aka kraftpaper.

glass

 

 

Glass: All glass containers, rinse and remove lids

metal

 

Metal: All tin and aluminium domestic type containers. Clean and pinch closed, do not flatten.

plastic

 

Plastics: All plastics with a mobius loop are recyclable except styrofoam. Plastic bags are not recyclable at this time on Cortes, take them to town or stop using them and get cloth bags.

 

 

Refundables

 

Beverage Containers: Pop and beer aluminium cans


Glass: beer, cider, spirits, wine, juice


Plastic: beer, cider, spirits, wine, juice


Tetra Paks: juice and all milk and milk substitutes


Gable Tops: juice and all milk and milk substitutes


Cardboard Box: wine and juice boxes with the bladder inside


Rinse, remove plastic lids, flatten tetra paks and gable tops

 

 


Scrap Metal

 

Everything from lawn chairs to outboard motors.
Autos: $40 fee for disposal; remove batteries, tires and fluids. Can be done at the centre.
Freezers, fridges and anything else with freon coolant: $15 freon removal fee.


Please transport carefully.
